Florida Governor Ron Desantis posted a photograph on his official social media account remembering Florida State University Football Coach Robert Cleckler Bowden. He said: Coach Bobby Bowden lived a remarkable life and leaves an incomparable legacy.  He created a dominating football program that produced championships and many great players.

Coach Bowden also prepared his players to be leaders in their communities, and many have made a great impact across Florida and beyond.  Most importantly, he lived his life guided by a strong faith in God, dedication to his family, and service to his community.  

RIP to a truly great man and legendary Floridian.

Bobby Bowden announced on July 21 that he had a terminal illness that Terry Bowden later said was pancreatic cancer. Bobby Bowden had been treated for prostate cancer more than a decade ago.

“I’ve always tried to fulfill God’s purpose for my life, on and off the field, and I’m prepared for what’s to come,” Bowden said at the time. “My wife, Ann, and our family have been life’s greatest blessing. I am at peace. ”

According to Yahoo News, “Bowden was initially hospitalized in October 2020 after testing positive for COVID-19. The test has taken a few days after he returned to his Tallahassee, Florida, home from a long hospital stays due to a leg infection.” Several high-profile personalities and Bowden loved ones have posted tributes on various social media pages on spreading his eulogy.

The Legendary Flordia State Coach Bobby Bowden’s cause of death was due to pancreatic cancer. He died at the age of 91.

On April 8, 2021, Florida's Inaugural Medal of Freedom Given to Legendary Coach Bobby Bowden. Bowden, 91, coached Florida State from 1976 to 2009, winning national titles in 1993 and 1999.
