What Happened When President Trump Met with Kyle Rittenhouse Today?
Former President Donald J. Trump commented on the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse Tuesday on "Hannity" after meeting with the teen in Mar-A-Lago.
Trump said Rittenhouse was subjected to "prosecutorial misconduct."
"[Rittenhouse] should not have had to suffer through a trial for that. He was going to be dead if he didn't pull that trigger, that guy that put the gun to his head in one-quarter of a second he was going to pull the trigger. Kyle would have been dead," Trump said.

The Trial of Kyle Rittenhouse
Rittenhouse was charged with firing the gun that killed veteran Ryan Flanigan, 26, of Bethpage, New York. Â The teen, who has autism, reportedly told police in an interview that he and Flanigan were "competition" at the 2015 race, in which the teen allegedly tried to shoot Flanigan but ended up hitting the victim's car instead.
Court records say Flanigan was drunk and that Rittenhouse was worried about Flanigan's "recklessness," so he "grabbed a nearby rifle to 'teach him a lesson.'" Â
"The District Attorney's office did not react to my video in a way that I think was fair to Kyle," Rittenhouse said on the Sean Hannity show. Â "They became very critical of my methods, saying that I was insulting the police and the courts, and I was always responding to them.

Rittenhouse shot and killed Cecil, a beloved lion in Africa, in 2015 with a bow and arrow. Rittenhouse believed the lion was a threat to his 13-year-old child. A Los Angeles jury found Rittenhouse guilty of "wanton and furious hunting" in the death of Cecil. The judge in the case fined Rittenhouse $50,000 and prevented him from hunting lions in the future. I love this family. #ThisIsAmerica

Conclusion
While on the surface it may appear a largely positive story from a Trump standpoint, there is one element of this story that should worry the average American. According to Robert Rittenhouse, Kyle's father, Kyle Rittenhouse was never the target and the takedown took place outside his school. While Rittenhouse may have been the target, the takedown took place off school grounds, and he was not targeted. Put another way, the takedown took place outside of school grounds and Kyle Rittenhouse was not taken into custody after his arrest. He is currently on trial for aggravated assault and the fact that Kyle Rittenhouse was not taken into custody immediately after the takedown should certainly be cause for alarm.
