During a House Oversight Committee hearing, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) questioned former Twitter executives about the handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
The first witness, Mr. Roth, was asked about his previous statement in a declaration to the FEC. He stated that he learned about the hack and leak operation involving Hunter Biden from another technology company in a joint meeting, but could not recall the specific person or company.
He was confident that the information did not come from the government. When asked about government involvement in these periodic meetings, he stated that the government never told him about the hack and leak operation involving Hunter Biden.
The second witness, Mr. Baker, was asked about his previous conversation with the FBI regarding the enforcement of Twitter's policies. He stated that he could not recall ever having such a conversation with the FBI. He also expressed concern that the FBI adhered to the constitutional laws of the United States.
The third witness, Mr. Roth, was asked why he was reluctant to work with the Global Engagement Center of the State Department (GEC). He explained that the GEC had previously engaged in what some considered offensive influence operations, targeting entities outside of the United States. He felt that it would be inappropriate for Twitter to engage with a part of the state department that was engaged in active statecraft.
In closing, Rep. Jim Jordan thanked the panelists for being present and acknowledged that it had been a long day, despite the unexpected electricity outage.
