Former President Trump has pledged to ban ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investing by executive order if he retakes the presidency, in a video posted on social media. Trump slammed the "woke left" and called ESG investing a "threat" from "radical left Communists."
In the video, Trump claimed that he issued a historic rule banning Wall Street and employers from investing retirement accounts in ESG for political reasons. He called such investments "poorly performing woke Financial scams" that would never be funded on their own merits. Trump alleged that the entire ESG scheme is designed to funnel retirement money to the "Maniacs of the radical left."
Trump criticized President Biden for gutting his ESG rule and allowing fund managers to play politics with seniors' hard-earned savings. He accused Biden of trying to use retirement money to fund "Fringe left wing causes" and destroying the country with his "radicalism and incompetence." Trump claimed that under his leadership, 401ks were going up like a rocket ship, but under Biden's leadership, they are crashing.
Trump promised that if he returns to the White House, he will sign an executive order and work with Congress to pass a law to keep politics away from America's retirement accounts forever. He will demand that funds invest retirement money to help seniors, not the "radical left Communists." Trump concluded by saying he would once again protect seniors from the "woke left" that he claimed destroys countries.
ESG investing has become increasingly popular in recent years, with investors looking to support companies that prioritize environmental, social, and governance issues. Critics argue that ESG investing is a way for corporations to virtue-signal without actually making meaningful changes. However, ESG proponents argue that it is a way for investors to drive positive change and hold companies accountable for their actions.
