At yesterday's House Energy Committee field hearing on the border crisis, Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) grilled Rochelle M. Garza, President of the Texas Civil Rights Project, over her statements about the border.

Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) grilled Rochelle M. Garza, President of the Texas Civil Rights Project, on her statements about the border during a House Energy Committee field hearing on the border crisis.

Garza confirmed that there is a humanitarian crisis at the Southwest border, but when asked about her experience with Customs and Border Patrol agents or Texas DPS, she stated that she had only done a few ride-alongs in 2018 and 2017. Rep. Cammack then challenged Garza's statement that "Operation Lone Star" is a waste of taxpayer funds, citing that 361 million lethal doses of fentanyl have been confiscated since its implementation in 2021.

Garza claimed that the operation is illegal, and Rep. Cammack responded by showing a brick of fentanyl that was found in her district in Florida and stating that every single one of the members in the hearing has illegal substances in their district as a result of the Biden open border policies. Rep. Cammack ended by asking Garza if she believes that social justice is Biden taking $130 million from homeless veterans programs under FEMA and redirecting it to the Border crisis. Garza declined to answer the question.

During a congressional hearing, Representative Kat Cammack presented a brick of fentanyl that was found in her district in Florida, weighing 958 grams. Cammack argued that the people who had that brick of fentanyl had crossed the border illegally, making a direct connection to the open border policies under President Biden.

She stated that it's not just her district, but every single one of the members present at the hearing had illegal substances in their districts as a result of the Biden open border policies. Cammack asserted that to say there is no connection is "wildly inappropriate" and "unacceptable," and demanded an apology to the families who lost loved ones as a result of the open border policies. She emphasized that this is a crisis, and cited statistics that over 70% of the 200 monthly overdoses in Marion County alone, which she represents, are fentanyl poisonings. Cammack also pointed out that only 5 to 10% of the fentanyl being smuggled over the border into the US is documented.

In conclusion, she challenged the witness on their belief in social justice and accused the Biden administration of redirecting $130 million from homeless veterans programs to the border crisis.

During a press conference, DeSantis didn't hold back, recounting the tumultuous events of the 2020 BLM riots in Minneapolis and criticizing both Harris and Walz for their roles in what he described as the "gutting" of the city. "Let's not forget the BLM riots of 2020 in Minneapolis," DeSantis began. "Those were riots that Kamala Harris supported, even raising money to bail out the rioters with the Minnesota bail fund. And what did Governor Tim Walz do? He sat back and let the city burn. His remarks were part of a broader discussion that also included the announcement of “Activate Hope,” an expansion of the Hope Florida initiative to aid Floridians recovering from disasters. However, DeSantis’s sharpest comments were reserved for Harris's recent economic plans. DeSantis began by addressing the current economic challenges facing the nation, particularly the high interest rates and soaring grocery costs. He blamed these issues on the federal government's excessive borrowing, printing, and spending, which he said were exacerbated by policies that Harris had a direct hand in shaping. "The fact is the biggest issue we have to deal with is the high cost of groceries and all those things that were facilitated by the federal government borrowing, printing, and spending ungodly sums of money
