At a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing about TikTok's data security and other threats, Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) tore into TikTok's CEO Shou Chew.
During the House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing on TikTok's data security and other threats. Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) questioned TikTok's CEO Shou Chew about his knowledge of Chinese Communist Party leader Chairman Xi Jinping's comments and his frequent contact with Chinese Communist Party secretary Mr. Zhang Fuping, who is the CEO of Bite Dance.
She also raised concerns about the transparency of the company's corporate structure and its ties to the CCP. Cammack pointed out that TikTok's parent company, Bite Dance, has gone out of its way to hide its corporate structure and the company's founder and their activities. She also questioned why an internal memo from TikTok corporate headquarters coached senior management to downplay the parent company Bite Dance and the China Association.
Cammack further criticized the company for not taking action to remove a video from its platform that was posted 41 days ago, which is a direct threat to the chairwoman of the committee and the members of the committee, despite the company's Community guidelines stating that it has a firm stance against enabling violence on or off TikTok.
